Scope
What was in the contract
- Bearing wall removal, flush LVL beam, post path to a new footing
- Complete replacement of the exposed cast-iron waste run
- Frameless painted cabinetry, drawer-first base run
- Honed quartzite counters and a full-height slab behind the range
- New 200A panel to carry an induction range
The cast-iron drain was the part I dreaded. They found it in week two, priced it that afternoon and it did not move the finish date.
The part other firms leave out
What went wrong: the original slab plumbing was cast iron and worse than the survey suggested. We had carried an allowance for it, so the conversation was about scope rather than about blame.
